My project has been revoling on the idea of learning what it takes to mange an office and to do it will. I started to reorganize my mentors filing cabinets. We separated closed cases, ongoing and new. I started by taking them all out and reorgazinging the blue cabinets as closed and the tan ones as on going. At first I wasn't a fan of filing or reorganizing but today when I finished putting everything away, started to relabel and seeing my mentors face after allowing her to have more space for new clients helped me see the value of my job. Cabinets like A, P, R, and S went from being so full you couldn't even wiggle them around to having space for 5 each. I helped her make her goal of having new clients this year more obtainable.

This week I feel like I learned a lot about myself and what habits I need to change and work on. Overall I see this internship teaching me how to better communicate with adults and also learning how to mange my time and understanding when its work time and when its ok to have a little fun but still staying productive. This week I started to learn how to do mileage. Medical Mileage is a way that they reimbusrt their clients medical travel miles. This taught me patience, organization and a lot of precision because missing a page, messing up a number, name of the mailing address or mileage total meant I had to restart. I am not the most organized person so this internship is helping get into new habits of being organized with my work. Another part of growth is more personal rather then my habits. I have found myself to be growing in my own mindset and really visualising that a lot of what is high school drama doesn't matter because when it gets to the point we all leave high school and start our own lives. None of what someone does and says to you really matters because these people won't be in your daily lives anymore. I hope coming back to school many other start to realize that too and we can start growing our schools community. My internship has been going well so far! I have been doing mostly filing work which I learned you have to be really careful and patient since these files hold so much information. The biggest challenge I've been faced with is making connections with those who I am working with. I'm usually a talkative person but for some reason I haven't been able to find that here yet. I think I've just been shy or really getting to understand and learn but I hope these next weeks I get out of my bubble and start making connections and start learning their stories. Another challenge for me is balancing what I do outside of school with my internships hours. Since I'm doing my internship while also coaching our JV team is has been hard to make sure I am getting my full 6-8 hours the days I have games or practices that I need to leave early for. A way I have overcome this challenge is by communicating with my mentor to make my hours up another day. Overall is been an exciting experience and I'm still excited to see what will come in the next weeks.Law has been a career path that I've always hoped to purse after highschool. I have invested so much of my time in finding programs and opportunities to further understand the legal field. As I get ready to start my internship at Acosta Law Firm and spend my next month in a legal environment working along side those who went through the process of becoming lawyers, a fear of mine is not seeing it as career I want to keep pursing. My biggest fear is not enjoying and realising that it's not for me. That can also lead into my hopes, I want to use this time to see the daily life of working in a law firm. This amazing opportunity can really be an eye opener for me. My hope is to gain more of an understanding of what it's truly like and if I should countine the journey of become a lawyer after high school.
